BDC (Business Development Company)

Definition:

A type of closed-end investment company that invests in small and medium-sized businesses, providing them with financing in the form of loans, equity investments, or other financial instruments. Business Development Company are regulated investment vehicles that must adhere to certain regulatory requirements and distribute a significant portion of their taxable income to shareholders.
