Antitrust Review

Definition:

The regulatory process through which government authorities, such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the United States or the European Commission, assess the potential impact of a proposed merger or acquisition on competition and consumer welfare. Antitrust review may involve scrutiny of market concentration, barriers to entry, and potential anti-competitive effects, and may require the parties to divest certain assets or operations to obtain approval.
