Retail-Heavy Proxy Solicitation

Definition:

A proxy solicitation campaign targeted primarily at retail investors, who are individual investors that own relatively small quantities of shares in REITs or BDCs. Retail-heavy proxy solicitations aim to engage and encourage participation from individual shareholders in voting on important corporate matters, such as electing directors, approving mergers or acquisitions, or ratifying auditors.
