REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust)

Definition:

A company that owns, operates, or finances income-producing real estate assets, such as office buildings, shopping malls, apartments, or industrial properties. REITs are required to distribute a significant portion of their taxable income to shareholders in the form of dividends and must adhere to certain regulatory requirements to qualify for favorable tax treatment.
