Thomas Ball, senior vice president at proxy solicitor Alliance Advisors LLC, said their recommendation reports will have a bigger than usual effect on the result. “Beyond the normal reasons, the proxy adviser recommendation reports will give institutions support to explain their votes,” Ball said. “If ISS recommends for Engine No. 1’s candidates, investors could cite its report as one reason they voted that way. The same for if the proxy advisers recommend for management’s slate.”
